About the story

There is "Alien vs Predator". There is "Capcom vs Marvel".
But I have never heard of "Zombie vs Vampire".
(I stand corrected - aparrently, there was a movie called "Vampires Vs. Zombies" in 2004 which I just found out about while working on this site...)

This occurred to me some day early in 2009, and I thought that maybe someone should do something about that.

I wrote it off as an "idea to be considered some day", but only a few days later the idea was still going around my head and refused to let go with its icy hand. So I figured why not try and write something myself?

Very early I already had the main concept and a few mandatory thoughts in my head:

  • Zombies and vampires don't like each other and will have violent encounters (why they have this feud is still a mystery, even to me)
  • Both go for the same target - humans
  • The stories would be very much like cheap simple b-movies with realistic characters and unrealistic events
  • Also, there would be many stories - ongoing chronicles of "encounters" between the two groups - very much like the cheap adult story magazines from the good old days (would you believe when I say that I never read one but still think I know what I'm talking about?)
  • Since zombies are generally considered brainless (Brains!!!), there has to be something to make up for that (other than plain numbers) that would be enough to make them serious enough opponents to the strong and smart vampires...

So I sat down and started writing the Prologue (see page 1), and I realized in surprise that the words came pretty easily to me, so I kept going. Sometimes I am still surprised how much the story develops a life of its own, and every time I sit down to continue I wonder how it will go on.

The stories will contain a little gore, a little humor, and hopefully enough interesting story line and tention to keep the reader as interested as the author.

About the author

Here I am, writing stories about zombies and trying to give them the feel of a b-movie zombie flick - but would you believe me if I said that I actually have never seen one of these movies in my life? Heck, I'm not even much of a horror movie fan! My earliest horror movie was Tarantula (which just about scarred me for life since I was only about 10 years old then), and I managed to avoid any further contact with similar scares (well, maybe a few glimpses of some Dracula movies, including the more current Bram Stoker's Dracula).

When I turned 18, I was introduced to a wonderful New Zealand movie by someone called Peter Jackson. The movie is called Braindead but may be better kwown in the US as Dead Alive. It introduced me (at this very late age) to the concept of "splat-stick" as a friend of mine explained - splatter and slapstick-type humor. And you know what? I loved it! The extremely funny ideas made the whole bloody mess so much more endurable for me.

So why am I doing this? Why am I, admittedly a non-expert and newbie on the subject, writing stories about things with which have not had a lot of experience and which I do not particularly like that much still today?

Answer: I do not have the slightest idea...

All I know is that this story struck me, and it kept bouncing around in my head and would not let go until I started writing it down. Maybe it is meant to be some form of release, or maybe a way of handling other real horrors. Or maybe in some other dimension these stories are reality, and I am only taking a dictation...

But you know what? I don't care - I am enjoying myself writing these stories, so why shouldn't I? And if I can find one person out there who enjoys what I wrote, then all the better.

OK, this page was supposed to be about me, so let me start (a little late):

I was born in Austria, grew up in Germany and raised myself by watching TV, as much as possible American or British TV, especially Monty Python (hm, maybe my love for "comical gore" comes from the Black Knight in the Holy Grail?).

At the age of 27 I found that having an American girl-friend and living in Germany without her was somewhat stupid, so I moved to the US and am still living here today, now happily married and happily in the midst of the culture that I felt so close to through what "Uncle Television" kept showing me.

I consider myself a musician, actor and geek (only the last one fully professionally, though), and I am also a purist which you might already have deducted from the simple design of this page.

In my late teenager years, I started writing about one to two short stories per year whenever "inspiration" struck me, but nothing ever pointed to a time when a story would be pretty much beating me over the head until I agreed to tell it.

So here it is. Please enjoy the story!

Acknowledgements

I would like to use this opportunity to thank a few people in my life that in one way or another made this page possible:

  • My wonderful wife - without her constant support and encouragement, these stories would never be written, and I I would most likely end up a brainless zombie myself if her wisdom didn't always manage to pull me out of my occasional ruts.
  • My friends TCruz and Danny for their valuable input, suggestions and encouragement.
  • My friend Azimuth for hosting my site and dealing with my occasional craziness if the server is down for just a second.
